Keep having to download large files as the programme Update Manager keeps telling me the "Invalid Update Control CTF File", then after a few days informs me we are not protected.:ugh:

Then I found this on the AVG site, "1565:AVG update issue - Invalid update control CTF file". following the line.

ive been using it for a good few years... after nortan AND Mccafee failed to sort out a virus on my computer. AVG sorted it and i have not looked back since!

many of my friends who work in IT also use avg as they prefer it to the other payed for options.

Try AVAST.....far better IMO.....
Free has nothing to do with the effectiveness.........There are many paid for programmes that are far less effective..
Seems AVG have sorted the problem now so if you are happy stick with it.

Dumped AVG 3 months ago, lost it's filter app. Will try again in Jan or Feb. Updates playing 'scroat' if other similar progs firewalls/viras checkers installed.:ugh:

You get what you pay for...........If that's the case, Norton should come with cashback of double its RRP!
