Hey Guy's :}

I have a sample IREX question that I can't find the answer for

Can anyone help?

Question:
An IFR aircraft for which an IFR pick up procedure has been approved

A, must obtain an airways clearance before entering class E airspace

B, must obtain an airways clearance before entering class D airspace

C, may enter class C in IMC or VMC without a clearance

D, Will be given sep[aration from other aircraft by ATC while operating within class E airspace

Also just a breif description of what a pick up procedure is and when it is used would be most helpful :ok::ok:

Answer D

An IFR Pickup essentially allows entry into Class E airspace whilst awaiting an airways clearance (due ATS/ATC workload etc)

Pilots of IFR aircraft accept responsibility in VMC for separation whilst continuing to receive TI and FIS. ATC will issue a clearance(eventually) and provide a full separation service once it is practical to do so.

If a higher class of airspace is rqd then a clearance will be needed as per usual

IFR Pickup (http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/aviation/airspace_reform/faq/pickup_faq.aspx)
is a good resource. Forget the AIP/Jepp reference sorry.

Very easy procedure..just remember its essentially a pending clearance.

Hope this helps
