I am wondering if anyone of you has sleep apnoea of if you know someone who has sleep apnoea?

or if you know someone who has sleep apnoea?

I know several people who have Sleep Apnoea Syndrome, but none of them has a pilot's licence.

It is very common complaint, myself being a sufferer..(or should I say the wife due to the snoring :ouch:) ..I am told by my doctors that their are 2 types of apnoea..The first and most serious is one where people just fall asleep, without warning, which can have all sorts of serious consequences. The second type, which I suffer from, if untreated , can cause heart attacks and induce strokes but doesnt have the `falling asleep suddenly` syndrome.

As I understand it, the snoring and lack of proper breathing causes the heart to work at full pace instead of being allowed to work easier when you are asleep thus putting you at risk of inducing strokes etc..

Both types are treated by use of a breathing machine, called a CPAP .
