I am trying to find the name of the pilot of the Wessex that crashed off the Norfolk coast on 13 Aug 1981 which sadly resulted in the deaths of all on board.

In addition to this, I am trying to find out if the pilot was not Alan MacDonald if anyone can tell me how and when he died as the information I have is that he was killed while operating over the North Sea in the early 1980s. I believe Alan was and ex-military pilot born in Aberdeen.

If anyone can help, I would be most grateful.

The pilot of the fatefull aircraft was Ben Breach, the most experienced wessex pilot in the world.
A really nice man, probably the best instructor I have ever flown with a sad end to a long distinguished career.

I think it was Ben Breach RIP. This accident was mentioned in another thread a few months ago, possibly Bristow Photos.

No, the pilot ( of G-ASWI) was Ben (Basil) Breach, a gentleman and experienced Wessex pilot. After the crash, Bristow stopped operating the Wessex.
