BBC NEWS | England | Nottinghamshire | Marching orders for Poppy Appeal (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/nottinghamshire/7710471.stm)

"Dear Sir,

I understand that you have compelled the Royal British Legion to move its Poppy Appeal stall because it presents an obstruction. How inconvenient for you.

However, when reflecting that these brave men were equally as obstructive when dealing with other self obsessed and small minded tyrants 65 years ago as well, I trust you won't feel too singled out.

Shame on you."

Well in, Al!

I'm collecting in my home town on Saturday. If I get the slightest grief or grumble, I'll report it here... although I think the good folk of this neck of the woods are most generous.

What on earth was wrong with that AIDU? She wanted to donate again; some of us do donate more than once in the fortnight!

Cheers

See Rolf Harris is donating the proceeds of sales of a new release (with backing by a Welsh choir) of "Two Little Boys" to the Legion.

I was handing over to a serving SNCO on Saturday after my 2 hr stint outside a Supermarket in darkest Wiltshire. We had a quick chat about things - he was in his No 1s with medals. He told me that earlier in the week one individual had accused him of emotional blackmail just because he was dressed in his uniform and medals - he was totally taken aback and just smiled sweetly. Another idiot asked him if the RAF had nothing better for him to do - he was on standown at the time!!

Thanks to all of you serving people for giving up your valuable time for the appeal, most of the people who spoke to me as I rattled my box (whoops that is not allowed is it) were extremely grateful for the opportunity to contribute to this great cause - it was great to see those serving giving up their valuable time to help.
