Exam Re-sits

All,

Not planning on failing any of my ATPL exams, but you never know when the Exam gods are unhappy!!

Sitting MOD1 (Bristol) In December. How long after taking the exams do we get the results ?

If I have failed any of the subjects (Gen Nav anyone) do I then concentrate on this on or start MOD 2 and sit them and then do all my resits together ?

I beleive we can sit the exams 3 times but are limited to the amount of sittings (6).

Quite correct, 3 attempts at each exam, over 6 sittings in total.

Its entirely up to you to decide when to take a resit(if required). Some will try and do the resit straight away at the next sitting, other's will leave all the resits til the end. Personal choice really, whatever you feel happiest doing.

As for results - usually takes 2 weeks(ish)

Whilst we are on the subject - what happens once you have used up your 6 sittings and still have outstanding exams? Are you unable to sit the ATPLs ever again? Do you have to give up at that stage? Just curious....

I just sat and completed my atpl's at Oxford, and you get the results, 2 weeks after the thursday of the exam week.

However you can find out whether you "passed" or "failed" on the Wednesday. I am not sure if it is the same for Bristol though, presume it is.

Just do Bristol Q-Bank, and you will pass them all garentueed!

In Aussie all the exams are on computer, you press submit if you want to finish the exam early, or if the time runs out, it submits the answers for you and you instantly know if its a pass or fail.

Surprised its not done like that in the UK, personally I like the old pen and paper way, easier to make notes and highlight certain points on the exam paper, next time I should take a marker pen and scribble all over the computer screen.

The exams results are received just AFTER the deadline for applying for the next month's exam sitting. Therefore, you have to wait two months before you can resit!

Personally, I think two modules for 14 subjects to daft; why not split it down into three or even four sittings, still leaving two sittings for retakes. The CAA don't care which order and when you do the exams. I did them to minimise days off and days away i.e. I sat the subjects on one day at a time!

If you have more than three atempts per subject and more than six sittings, I believe you have to start the whole course again and retake all the exams you'd originally passed.

Although it's only natural, if you are using Bristol, I wouldn't worry too much about resists. If you can give their online question bank a good hammering, you will be surprised how well the 2 week brush-up course prepares you for the exams.

You get your exam results through the post within 10 working days. Although sometimes, BGS will know your results maybe a day before you get them in the post.

According to LASORS 2008 Section J 1.5 you have 6 sittings and 4 attempts per subject

6 sittings total and 4 attempts per exam all over JAA land. If you use up all your attempts and have not passed 14 exams, any passes you have got are gone and you have to start all over again. The computerised exam sounds good, I wouldn't say it will be too long before thats brought in here.
