As a result of European Business Jets' sad demise today,
Can I take this opportunity to say what a great bunch of guys we had "downstairs"; proactive, and the perfect "Ops" attitude to life.

It's been a pleasure to work with you all, and I wish you all every success in the future.

I'll miss you guys, but I'm sure that our paths will cross again.

Well said Steve - i'll second you on that comment !!!!!!

Would like to say its been a pleasure to fly as an F/O with guys and gals both on the line and on the ground who have given so much time and effort to making the company work given tough circumstances both within and outside the company - believe it or not, i have enjoyed my time at EBJ and wish all those affected all the best for the future in whatever line of work you choose from here on in - given the nature of todays events, i can still say i even enjoyed the flight i operated back this evening too !!

Good luck all in your future endeavours !!

Sorry to hear that you have lost your jobs, it's never good when a company ceases operataions but may I ask what the main contributing factors were for this?

Sorry to hear it EBJ:*. Only have to read the papers to see the main reasons why of course. Anyone wanting to get work, I know an operator in Spain who is looking for UK based and Palma based Citation pilots, but pay is not great either...

As soon as the announcement was made, it became no-one's job to do anything, as we didn't have jobs!

That aside, ALL OF my guys and I stayed on for a good couple of hours putting Operations to bed. This involved calling all on-duty and down-route pilots and advising (I even stopped an aircraft that was just about to taxi, and told the crew to lock up and go home). In addition, we fielded loads of calls; all done in a professional manner to the last.

Also, I had all of my off-duty staff to advise, and I didn't get of the phone until 2200 that day.

It was a hard day for everyone, but I'm happy, indeed proud of the "work-for-free" professionalism that Ops and me put in on that evening.

If we did miss anyone, then I apologise, but I can categorically state that at no time was I tasked or even asked to ensure all pilots were aware - what we did as a dep't was done all off our own bat in the face of a strong desire to curl up in a corner and cry.

As is with management, my responsibility lies with my staff in that situation; and I'm happy that my staff were made aware. There were two pilot-managers in the very same announcement by GD as me - could it have laid with them? I wouldn't have expected them to call my Ops guys. They were exit-stage-left within 5 mins of the announcement tho (no slight intended; we all deal with things in different ways)

Hopefully some of the guys on duty that fateful day will corroborate the above.

Hope this helps, and once again apologies if we fell below our usual high standards;)

Cheers

Steve

Hi Guys,

Very sorry to hear the news about your company. I know what it's like
to go under it happened me in 2000 and this dec after 7 and a half years
I was made redundant, it's the way the industry is going.

Jet Republic are looking for people based in Lisbon if that's any help.

Regards,

Crewingb
