Gents:

In the spirit of co-operating with you blue-jobs that hang out here, I thought I'd tip you off to a thread on ARRSE about Morpheus Rising, a band fronted by SSGt Grae Tennick who's new single "An Ordinary Man" is now on release with profits from the single going to Help for Heros.

From the http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/localnews/Band39s-single-aims-to-provide.4604030.jp]Yorkshire Post (http://www.yorkshirepost.co.uk/localnews/Band39s-single-aims-to-provide.4604030.jp)

A BAND featuring an Army staff sergeant as the lead singer are releasing their first single to raise funds for troops injured in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The York-based four piece, called Morpheus Rising, is fronted by Staff Sergeant Graeme Tennick, who is a member of 4th Mechanized Brigade based at Catterick Garrison in North Yorkshire.

The new single, An Ordinary Man, will be released on Monday, October 27, in aid of the Help for Heroes charity, which provides support for members of the Armed Forces wounded in current conflicts.

The charity has raised £12.5m in its first year through a series of high profile events, including a rugby match at Twickenham last month which featured a host of stars.

Staff Sgt Tennick said: "Although there are certainly references to my experiences on operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the Balkans on some of the other tracks we have recorded, An Ordinary Man is the first time I have consciously written a song about the subject.

"I have lost people I knew in Afghanistan, as have many of my friends, and I decided this was one way I could help those who return home and need medical help of some kind, and I suppose it helps me deal with the experiences myself."

They are an unsigned band and members of Morpheus Rising have financed the single themselves, although they are planning to give all proceeds to the Help for Heroes charity.

A three-track EP will cost £3.99, while the single is available for 99p. More information is available at Morpheus Rising - Morpheus Rising (http://www.morpheusrising.co.uk) on the internet.

We'll probably be pushing the single a bit more on the site in the coming weeks in the hopes we can get it to no 1 (if Peter Kay can do it with a crap spoof there's no reason why not, especiallly as it's for a good cause).

Please dig deep and I'll drop Grae a note to stop by and visit PPRuNe to keep you guys updated on sales/progress.

Woopert,

Thanks for the shameless plug!!

To the moderators of this forum: Thank you for letting this be announced on here!!

The single is released to the public on the 27th of October, but members of our site are able to purchase it now.

If anyone would like to find out more about this release in aid of HELP for HEROES (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk) you can find information (and the promotional video!) at the An Ordinary Man (http://www.morpheusrising.co.uk/anordinarymaninfo.cfm) information page on our site.

Please be aware that the music you hear when accessing our website is not the single, we have a site wide player which plays demos of our existing material. To hear the single you may either click this link (http://www.reverbnation.com/tunepak/830497), or visit the info page linked above.

I hope you like it, and choose to help us in our attempts to raise money for HELP for HEROES (http://www.helpforheroes.org.uk).

tonker,

no problems with adding other videos etc... the one you linked to is not for sale, is not for charity, and is not an original song :)

It is, however, a damned fine effort by an individual to raise awareness of the forces plight in the Middle East by putting together a montage of video to a beautiful song. I loved it.

All the best,
Grae

Thanks for the support everyone... it's been quite overwhelming...

I wrote quite a lengthy thanks on our blog (http://www.morpheusrising.co.uk/bandblog.cfm) today which I also posted on ARRSE, but I'm not sure if it's ok here, so I've just linked you to the blog entry :)

pprune is high up in the list of sites linking to our single's page, so thank you for everything.

...but it's a difficult thing to justify for this single.

We've stated that we will donate all proceeds from this to H4H. For us to get this in the charts means releasing it though online/retail outlets which are included in the charts... that means they take a cut of all the proceeds... which we are not prepared to lose.

We are considering releasing a limited edition CD single of AN Ordinary Man as a 'normal' release but we still need to work out where the funding would come from.

We'll keep you posted, but the charts will probably stay 'out of reach' just now.

Thanks for the support.

Cheers,

Grae

Guys,

I have already discussed things with PPP and fully understand the situation with the 'sticky'.

We have been 'stuck' twice on ARRSE and the post here was made as a favour, the original poster asked permission before it was done, and I really don't want to ruffle any feathers by asking for more... the traffic from PPrune has been amazing on our site as is, we couldn't ask for any more.

If you want us up the top, just keep posting ;)

Thanks very much for your continued support...

Keeping this thread up top should be simple enough.

BTW, I was chatting to one of the chaps in my local town collecting for the Poppy Appeal and he mentioned Morpheus Rising. The word is getting out there.

I did kind of abuse the privilige of once being an active member of PPRuNe before we started ARRSE in asking if you guys could plug the single here. 'Glad to see you are getting some site traffic and word is getting out. Now if only Danny would let you run a free banner ad like the really gleaming one on ARRSE... ;)

I heard on the radio this evening that the sale of the single is expected to reach 300,000 this week!

That would be remarkable so let us hope so.

I heard that X-Factor are releasing an H4H / RBL charity single too.

Hope that doesn't impact on your sales too much.

If only!!

Unfortunately for us, that's the X Factor single, fortunately for H4H and RBL, it should do really well...

I'm reserving judgement on the song though :)

Great news today about the X Factor single... expected to hit 500,000 sales by Sunday, so it should be No 1 in the charts and raise a good amount for both H4H and the RBL...

Sales of our single are not reaching those heady heights, but things are moving along quite nicely, and we hope things will continue that way.

Our intention is to continue pushing this until Remembrance Day, and then we'll let things take their natural course...

Thanks to every one on this forum for there interest and support. The hits from this site have surpassed all other sites which have supported us in this endeavour.

Thanks for the bounce!!

This is just a quick note to let you all know that, thanks to the efforts of the Facebook group promoting the single, An Ordinary Man will be aired on BFBS Radio (Available at BFBS Radio on Sky Digital (http://www.ssvc.com/bfbs/radio/digital/index.htm) and on Sky channel 0211 and Freeview channel 768 if you don't get BFBS radio). The interview will be aired on Monday 10th November at 18:30 (UK Time).

This should help promote the single, especially as it is being broadcast the night before Remembrance Day and it's broadcast everywhere there are serving forces personnel!!

Thanks again for your support.

All the best,

Graeme
