I want one of these (http://www.jetpackinternational.com/video/flight2wconv.wmv)

Anybody know the practicalities of operating one of these ? What sort of PPL do you need ? Would certainly make getting to work in the morning easier.

Seriously? I doubt that you need any license at all. Just balls of steel (and trousers of asbestos!)

Fuel burn is only 20 secs or so. So it would be great for getting to work as long as a) you work really close to home and b) there is a very big wall, or deep ravine, between home and work. ;)

I reckon if the ESA/JAR people would really have a field day with this, if they got their teeth into it.

Questions and training, applicable to rocket science, fire extinguishing drills, forced landings, in flight restarts, etc,.etc.:ugh:

Foot launched, hence no licence required? Bit like those para-nuisance things that operate without any common sense? Just guessing.

I love the pedestrian-friendly front bumper. I'm sure car safety experts around the world can't wait to approve this for road use.......

Many years back there was a American guy demonstrating a jet pack down the grandstand straight at Brands Hatch - I think it was a British Grand Prix (I said it was years back)

He was being interviewed by your standard idiot TV presenter who asked

"What if something goes wrong, do you have a parachute or anything to get you down"

to which the answer was "No sir, I rely on gravity to do that!"
