For those want to come to Jade Cargo here the latest information.
Residence Contract is about to lose 16 pilots to KAL, the contract itself is a mediocre $$$$$ wise unless like most of us on it you have small children up to High school level the company will pay schools in Shenzhen but only in Shenzhen, but lately we are getting up to 9 or more roster changes a month some times is on a day by day basis, most of us who chose the residence contract selected this option to have a more stable lifestyle with our families but it is not really also our rotations in Europe some times exceed 15 days or more most of our spouses and children are not liking it that much and are seriously considering going back home. Be prepare to pay an outrageous amount of TAXES up to 45% anything above 99900RMB an average tax payment a month is around 3000 to 6000 US$ do not be fooled as most of us were with the huge amounts that the website shows, up until 3 months ago there was plenty of overtime but now that most of pilot crews are in place(captains 90%) the hours have gone down so what used to be an average paycheck of 14,000us$ now it’s down to 10500us$ flying a B744 you tell me, before with the over time we were at the same level of KAL Yangtze or greatwall but now, we are the company paying the lowest salary in the Industry and the 80 hrs guarantee is good until 31/12/2008 and with the unstable rosters we get there is no way most of us will get up to 80 hrs(average hrs now are 65 a month) as you can see it is time to jump SHIP before it sinks. One of our Capts is taking the company to court for breach of contract: Different payment for the same Job(residence vs commuter contracts) lost wages due to inefficient Licensing, annual leave not given,Release Letter not given when requested(they have to give it to you) training bond which is illegal in China, too many individual contracts (lady Lawyer) will request the court to see these contracts and a few other things, now he is not the only one the Lady Lawyer in Futian is currently about to represent 20 pilots for the same reasons.
On the other side the commuting contract looks like it’s about to burst and loose some pilots as well the company offered during the Roadshows the possibility of back to back option to many of the guys, but it seems that this it about to change to 20-10 and no more back to back possibility and they will start deducting days off from your annual leave(illegal in china see lady lawyer) but now there are many options with in china Greatwall Yangtze river they also do not have a perfect contract but atleast your salary it’s guaranteed for up to 14,000US$ a month no matter what, no taxes and the commuting contract allows back to back and tickets home both companies are also reviewing the schooling option overseas and this should be approved starting 1st of Nov, and kal and asiana is offering solid commuting contracts also rasing their salary to 15,345us$ with basis in Europe and US no taxes and they are presently working on the schooling option overseas, as long as the school of your choice sends a direct biling, also Cargo Lux will begin hiring Direct entry Captains with all the benefits we are used to in Europe and an overall great package.
If anyone is considering Jade bear in mind anything you are offered before you come will be totally different once you arrive any bonus given they do not tell you until you are here that it will be taxed and if you leave before your contrac t expires you have to refund it plus taxes(bond illegal) there are a few pilots that did not take this money in order to avoid the penalty and they can leave tomorrow if they wish and they are leaving believe me.

Looks like you better go back to what you are "used " to in Europe.
40% tax, fuel at "god knows what" per litre, bread at Eu 9 per Kg and a frozen Ar-e for most of the year.

china-pilot is probably not a South African and most certainly not European judging by the grammatical structure of his post. His post reminds me very much of somebody with a different handle who used to slag off Jade about a year ago. So much so that it is most likely the same person.

Just found it. Hitlist was his last handle.

It is always interesting to see how different people react to the same situation or conditions. Being employed by Jade Cargo as a pilot is no different, and rightly so! However, when you communicate through a forum like this, you should try to portray the facts as they are as honestly as you can. I am a pilot with Jade Cargo and a South African like ten others, all quite happy to be here. Like in most companies, we admit that things are not perfect, but believe that through positive participation and contribution the company can well turn out to be very near to perfect. For the record a few facts: 1. New, skilled and dynamic management took over around Sept '07. Under leadership of our CEO Capt Kay Kratky, management has proved to us that they are willing to listen to positive inputs from the pilot group, and has made many changes to improve working conditions. 2. As we speak issues regarding the contract as it stands are being negotiated. This includes hours guaranteed and a 18 day 0n/12 day off contract for commuters. In fact, this has already been approved. 3. The leave issues, as mentioned by our unhappy colleage, were part of an effort to get the company operating to full capacity with minimum crews. This happened in June for the first time since start-up of our young company, and was always communicated by management. The intention was never to make this a permanent arrangement, but rather to actually assure our careers with the company through an expeditious capacity operation! 4. Roster stability is a high priority for our management. They have implemented various suggestions from the pilot group in contribution to this cause. One must accept, however, that a cargo operation can never be as stable as a passenger operation, especially when you've just started to operate at capacity without all crews on line! This is a young company but one that you should watch! So, in summary, it is a case of whether you as an individual sees the bottle half empty or half full, and whether you want to be part of the problem or part of the solution! Lastly, I know all the real South Africans personally and we socialise often, and not one of them feel the way our South African friend does! For those who would still consider Jade as a future employer, go for it!

I believe the aircraft on lease to Jett8 has returned. The two Jett8 742s are parked in Singapore and I've seen no activity from them for weeks. Could someone in the know tell us what's going on ? Any plans to restart or is it all over.:(

China-Pilot,
I am also working for Jade Cargo and can not let your thread go unanswered. Yes we do have a lot of roster changes at this stage, but that is to be expected at a freight airline that fly mainly ad hoc freight. The lawyer was used by only one person at Jade. I talked to that person and a lot of his gripes were totally personal. The fact that you know about that shows me that you have been in Jade's employ for some time. I am very unhappy about the fact that you give your location as South Africa. I do not believe for one moment that you are South African. To prove it I want you to answer the following. What is Pretsville? As almost all of us are ex SAAF and you think you are one of us, then you will know what I am talking about. I have also sent you a PM and are waiting for your answer. Happy flying.

Hi wildbergpilot,

nice to know someone is happy there at least. We cant help but understand not all tea taste good to everyone. I have a few colleagues that have left for Jade and I have heard no complaints so far (which is good). I am looking now to log enough hours before I apply to Jade. Just one question. Word has it that for anyone that does not have the 744 type rating would have to fly at least 500hrs on type before they are assigned to Shenzhen Airlines where they would be sent for command training and thereafter, back to the left seat in the 744. Is that true? Could you kindly tell me more about career progression in Jade? Thank you

Jade Cargo is not hiring non type rated pilots anymore. See pilotjobsnetwork.com

Thank you for applying Jade Cargo for direct entry Captain Position. Due to the operational reason, we are not looking for non-TR captains any longer.

We would like to keep your application on file and once the operational needs changed, we would be more than happy to reconsider your application.

Thank you!

Best Regards!

Okay then is there anyone out there who works for Jade that can tell me of the work rules and schedule. Anyone who commutes? Can you tell me how commuting out of ANC might work? Do they allow jumpers to get to work?

Is there anyone there with Jade who is still working off a training bond? If so what is the bond for conversion from B742 to B744?

Current training bond for Jade is RMB 380K.... approx $55,800 US.

Jade only considering PICC and F/Os at the moment.... no DEC slots, or so I am told.

Heard from some kimchiland drivers that lots of Jade fellas showed up in KAL like a bunch of desert rats scouring for grub. Tales of bloody mess done to the Hyatt crew lounge, jostling for meal tickets at the dispatch office leading to locals shaking the heads, grabbing several copies of manuals leaving hardly any left for others, abusing privileges in the contract leading to daily warnings from the admin guys.........sorry veteran KAL drivers, you gotta live with such garbage, wait till the insufferable vipers from HKA show up!!!
