Hi Speedyg, not quite sure who you are but hopefully you will get this reply. I worked with Dave at GH Stansted and I also shared a house with Eva in Manuden. After GHS I joined Dan Air as Station Manager, then went to Aberdeen for a year and gatwick. I then joined Airtours when they set up their airline and was SM at Stansted. I then moved to EMA and BHX for a couple of years before returning to STN. About 6 years ago I was Regional Ground Services Manager for MyTravel and then I got out for good, aviation that is. I am now Customer Services Manager for Tesco at one of their Aberdeen stores, married to ex UKL Cabin Crew Manager with one daughter, loving it. How about you whoever you are, I would hate to guess ?????
cheers
Julian;)

No! You're right and I'm not wrong, Jules got around quite a bit, slippers on, feet up, mostly in the STN area.

Now, as for D 'the' M, whatever happened to him? no doubt playing with toggles:\

Julian, you were rumbled years ago. Hope life's treating you well north of t' border. Personally I prefer Sainsburys, can't figure out Tescos isle config:=

I used to work in PHU in the satelite from about 83 to 87ish I think. The supervisors in the box from memory were Linda, Lynne, Caroline (but she went to LHR), and the PO's were Ray, Liz and a great lady (can't remember her name, but she was studying for her pilots licence).

They were good days back then and a great team of people to work with. I was on the opposite shift to Carl and Paul (Peggy and Penny lol) along with Sarah Hugget, Bruce Wilson, Joe Gazzola and others.

It would be great to hear from any others who were around then...

Nige Wilson
4th Aug 2010, 09:09
It certainly was. Can you remember who was the supe before Ray tho'? I go back to '77 when Ray was still co-ordinator. Agh, those lovely little Fiat 126's. A hint of rain or especially snow and the whole operation ground to a halt. No radios then either. They were the days.

Binthere
5th Aug 2010, 03:28
Excellent little motors especially in the snow up on the old west park. How's NORA these days, thought you went to BA? Are you going to the GG2 do in October?

Nige Wilson
5th Aug 2010, 11:21
They were at that. I managed a triple handbrake turn up there before it conked out on me. Quite a long walk back wasn't it.
Yes, with BA now. Did my stint in the mob and then came to BA in '89, been here ever since. Used to operate through LGW some years ago and called in for a brew with Ray when I had the chance but haven't been down that way for some time now. Still keep in touch with Wilf (best man at my wedding), Ian Kirkpatrick (Britannia engineer) and recently found Rich Tassell (BIA Ops).
Sorry, not up-to-date with do's etc. GG2?

Oh yes, you have a few famous names there!

On my shift I remember Alan Matterface, Julian Maude (who gave me the nickname Woody), Paul Gurton, Shaun Massingham, Dave Elliott, Pat Hurst, Tibbs (cards at the ready), "the Vicar" and loads more.

The Fiats had heaters, whereas the morris's had doors that came off (not by design), and the minis were probably older than the comets. Joy! Can't believe we were upstaged by the Dan Air (3 stripe station manager "amber one to ops") guy with his cortina estate and radio.

Be good to hear from anyone that remembers me.

Back in the 70's on a short secondment to Air Freight, Lydd, remember agent, me, F/O and all our bags piling into at least three 126's in the snow until we got wise and just stood there until we found one that would grind into life and take us out in the wee small hours to our Dak for the run to AMS.
Heady days, and a real friendly bunch of people. They had heaters??

Hi

I had a very temp contract with GH - ramp tramp for 6 months.
1977 0r 1978.

After GH went to Biggin Hill working for Fairflight. Very happy days:).

I rememember ? Johnston telling me that I should join an airline
ops dept. This I did and since 1985 have been a self employed
aviation consultant. Had a great life.

After all these years I certainly recognise a few names - Pat Hirst
"Amos" and his pipe Ray Caesar and a few others.

Many years down the road I remember those days with fondness
and realise that I was an outspoken little .

Anyway I used to help the Skyways crews G-AMSM etc turn the props at
0230 in the morning. People thought I was mad....

A long time ago I know - What became of Peter Bryne and Evan More????

Remember flying to AMS on a newspaper run with Skyways Chief Pilot
former WW2 Wellington pilot and his co- pilot was a ? Baldwin (later Air Ecosse)
All the very best to you all:ok:
