Hello,
recently saw a Dubrovnik Airlines MD82 or 83 boarding passengers via a rear
stairway. Is that common boarding procedure with that planes when they are not standing on a gate?

Thanks,

and a blessed week to everyone.

Yes a fairly common site on remote stands.

Many years ago, after a delay where we were fed on board on the ground, we were deplaned from an Aero Peru 727 through the ventral airstair. The woman in front of me got to the bottom stair and tried to light up - I've never moved so fast as I did in trying to stop her!

Hartington, good that you were so fast in reacting many years ago, otherwise it could have ended in a very impressive example for the unhealthyness of smoking.......

What i wonder about is, did the lady try to light a cigarette because you were waiting in the plane so long before deplaining, or was it normal many years ago to smoke at an airfield next to a jet plane?

I can vaguely remember the co pilots of the JAT DC-9's at LHR headsetting the aircraft on pushback from stand then running to the back of the aircraft to board via the still open back steps for departure :)
