Could be Spicejetter but it doesn't hurt to ask the question. Ops at LGW seem to be taking it seriously.

Maybe the planned BA announcement was this....

Voluntary severance: managers and senior managers are to be offered voluntary severance as BA looks to counter the worst trading conditions the industry has ever faced. The strong dollar has offset recent falls in the price of oil and BA’s fuel bill is still expected to be up £1 billion this year. More than 30 carriers have gone bust this year and all airlines are having to identify areas where they can reduce costs. Chief executive Willie Walsh said: “Our employee costs are second only to fuel. Standing still is not an option so we must take action now. We are determined to maintain a competitive cost base and continue to review all areas of the business.” Personalised letters with voluntary severance details, setting out the full terms, will be sent to home addresses of 1,400 eligible managers on September 24 and there will be two weeks to respond. At this stage these are not compulsory redundancies. It is a one-off offer and terms will reduce once this offer has expired.

Anyone important enough to make an important announcement is important enough to have scived off to the pub already, as he knows thats where all the journo's are, not hanging around to hear nothing. Another damp fart then.

No bmi announcement planned and Virgin buying bmi not on the cards but a merger with Lufty and bmi maybe!

The above theory is probably the only way that virgin and bmi will get together. The truth is that Virgin, bmi and BA are all hurting now like probably never before and uncertain times are ahead. Consolidation giving economies of scale and all that goes with that seem the only way forward. At least the oil price has dropped significantly!
