My question is about takeoff flap retraction speed schedule when using flap 15/20 for takeoff on the B777

The FCOM states that the initial retraction from flap 15/20 to flap 5 is initiated at "Display" of "Vref 30 + 20"

Vref 30 + 20 is obviously not displayed on the speed tape - what is displayed? :ok:

Flap Maneuver Speed

FLAP POSITION: MANEUVER SPEED
FLAPS 0: VREF30 + 80
FLAPS 1: VREF30 + 60
FLAPS 5: VREF30 + 40
FLAPS 15: VREF30 + 20
FLAPS 20: VREF30 + 20
FLAPS 25: VREF25
FLAPS 30: VREF30

So retraction can begin as you accelerate past the F15/F20 bug on the speedtape == manoeuvre speed for that flap setting...

Twinjock, simply the number '5' is displayed to the right of the appropriate speed.

Thank you for the answers!

Re-entry, you are correct when it comes to flap retraction from flap 5 to flap 1 and flap 1 to up - you retract when you reach the "5" and "1" on the speed tape respectively.

Why does the FCOM state that flap retraction from flap15/20 to flap 5 is at Vref 30 + 20, and not when you reach "20" on the speed tape?

Can it be that when the a/c is very light that the "20" or "15" is not displayed on the speed tape, as it is below V2 + 15?
