Hi!

I would just like to find out what the living and working conditions are like in Kinsasha, Congo for any pilots out there. I have a possible opportunity to fly out there and am trying to research more information about the location as far as safety, government/political stability etc.

Any input would be greatly appreciated from someone living and flying in that part of the world.

Thanks.:)

Tk care

Sounds like its the votes are in...
Mine too. Kinshasa is a sh1thole. Nothing happens easily, and everything costs a lot of money. These days I plan my ferries to avoid the place.

Very little to recommend about Kinshasa. I worked there fifteen years ago and doubt anything has improved since then. The place will eat you up and spit the bits out if you're not savvy.
Fond memories of the Domino and Spikizi though. :E

Was at the Memling, in the bar, enjoying a third or fourth Primus...
Made friends with the bartender...
We spoke French together, I was the interpreter for the crew.

Bartender asked me "Where you from originally...?"
I answered "Belgium, I am from Brussels, originally"...
Zaïre-Congo-RDC (whatever they change name to) was our ex-colony.
We probably made the worst mess in that nation when we left in 1959..
xxx
Bartender said "Hmmm, they love Belgians here"...
I answered "Oh yeah, but... why...?"
His answer - "Belgians taste good"...

Happy contrails
