FAA CPL and IR Theory

I have a JAA CPL ME/IR, now want to get my FAA CPL/IR.

I have bought the ASA Test prep books, and am borrowing a set of ASA DVD's from a friend.

Can anyone recomend any up to date FAA online question banks? The cheaper, the better.

The FAA CPL and IR theory exams are easy compared to JAA so you should have no problem.

In addition to the Gleim books, I used Pilot Practice Page (http://www.exams4pilots.org) . I'm not sure exactly how up to date it is but you would pass the exams if you can get high scores on the website.

Hi i used for the written test Gleim's books....are the best ever and cheep.
and if u want u can download and buy the question banks from Dautless...is great software and doesnet expire as Bristol does.... FAA Written Test Preparation Software (http://www.dauntless-soft.com/products/GroundSchool/) you pay 30$ for subkect or 99$ for everything....something like that....
is about 60 euro so not too bad.
Im using Dauntless also for the JAA ATPL for my conversion course.

The above poster is correct, but it's been said here before many times; do make sure that you know the theory and not just the answers for the exams, or the FAA examiner will catch you out on the 'oral' section of the flight test which can last anything from 30 minutes to 8 hours!

oh yea and you will need to know the FAR/AIM - sort of the FAA equivalent of LASORS with a lot of air law in it. I think you can get most of it online on the FAA website but you should have a copy, especially for the oral exams.

think the sporty's website Sporty's Online FAA Knowledge Tests (http://www.sportys.com/faatest) is quite good and is free!

When it comes to the oral test make sure you knows the charts really well, I was grilled over all the symbols & airspace, also what the cpl allows you to do. Also all the symbols that you may encounter at an airfield so taxi way markings etc etc

You need to know Part 43, Part 61 through Part 91
You can do a free check ride with an FAA Inspector instead of paying for a Designated Pilot Examiner (DPE).
Make the appointment well in advance with a FSDO, here is a list:
