Hi All,

I was looking at a few images of Airbus A340. In some of them i found something bulging on the head.

Photos: Airbus A340-542 Aircraft Pictures | Airliners.net (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Kingfisher%20Airlines/Airbus%20A340-542/1388888/L/&width=1280&height=866&sok=keyword_%28%27+%22a340%22%27_IN_BOOLEAN_MODE%29%29_&sort=_order_by_photo_id_DESC_&photo_nr=2&prev_id=1388933&next_id=1388887)

Can you have a look at the above image. That thing above the alphabet "G" in "KINGFISHER".

What is the purpose of that?

Sorry if it has already been posted here b4.

Regards :)

Likely a satellite antenna for TV entertainment system. Could also be GPS.

I think it's to do with mobile phone usage and internet usage when airborne, IIRC.

This is a SATCOM antenna, it can be used for several purposes.
