Just for fun on a wet September afternoon, what about naming songs that remind you of helicopter pilots or are maybe just aviation related ?
I’ll start with the helicopter pilot’s anthem, the old Simon and Garfunkel classic . . . .“ 50 WAYS TO LOVE YOUR LEVER”
Over to you . . . . . . :).

"Four blades on my Wessex
and I'm still flying along
The Senior P is after me
but I'm singing a happy song"

(and all the way to "No blades ....)

How about "Helicopter" by The Feeling from the album "Twelve Stops and Home"

'I've had this feeling before
My heart is crawling in the mud, mud, mud
Id feel much better I'm sure if I had a helicopter'

I am somewhat fond of this song....granted it is one of those "You had to be there kind of things!"

This takes me back to another time....one of my unit Chinooks is in the video. Excellent song....written by someone who must have been there.

T4risen - good call, although (perhaps after a Momentary Lapse of Reason :8 ) I always preferred Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers "Learning to Fly".

..forgot to add that there was also Penguin Cafe Orchestra's "Isle of View (Music for Helicopter Pilots)" on Broadcasting From Home, the album that had the much-more-famous, and far-more-frequently-ripped-off, "Music For a Found Harmonium".

Very funny.

And I'd like to emphasize: Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, "Learning to Fly":

"I'm learning to fly but I ain't got wings.
Comin down is the hardest thing.
I'm learning to fly around the clouds.
But what goes up must come down."

Was told of this by an army pilot on hearing that I was from a town called Monaghan, (one of the border counties in Ireland). Apparently there was a slight navigational mishap north of the border hence...

Where's the Puma gone? (it's gone to Monaghan)
Where's the Puma gone? (it's gone to Monaghan)
Faaar faaaar away....
Faaar faaaar awayyyyyy.

Sung at length when any Puma pilot walked into the bar. Apparently.
