Can anyone give advice on the process of converting an FAA CFII and CFIA to a JAA/EASA license in the UK?

FAA CFI to JAR FI requires 15 hours flight time with 30 hours ground.

The above assumes that you already have a JAA licence on which to place the rating and also requires that you pass a FI test with a FIE. To add the Instrument Instructor you will need a JAA IR, another 5 hours flying plus 10 hours groundschool and a test to add the IRI rating, and the same again to add ME privileges.

Blimey, so what does it take to get the basic JAA license you mentioned earlier to base the CFI rating on?
Not sure if this helps but I still have an expired German license from a conversion I did over 10 years ago while in Germany (This was before JAA licenses...)

One of your instructors had a similar thing and ended up doing all the 14 ATPL exams an exemption to the training requirements and just the flight tests for the CPL / IR.

Still a lot of money though.

See if the Germans will convert their old licence.
