Who can tell which mode is the normal EHSI setup on ILS app with F/D on on the B737 500 ? Is it EXP ILS or it is better to have MAP mode which gives us more information?

Map mode. You still have the ILS on the PFD, right in front of you.

When my airline had Classics, it was a requirement for one pilot (typically the PF) to use either EXP ILS or FULL ILS on the EHSI. The reason they gave was Map Shift but, as latetonite says, the raw data is on the EADI anyway.

Map shift is rarely a problem on the NGs we operate now, with 2 GPS inputs, so that element of the SOP has gone. Old habits die hard though, I still switch the ND to APP mode for an ILS when I'm PF.

Frankly it doesn't matter a damn what display you have up in front of you as long as the information is adequate for the job. VOR/ILS EHSI mode is fine and perfectly safe. Personally I prefer a huge course deviation pointer in front of me on the EHSI rather than a MAP with so much superfluous information that I am dazzled by its wonderful complexity. Horses for EHSI Courses, so to speak....
