Any ex VC 10 pilots, civil and/or military?
Can you tell me what were/ are the Vne and Mmo on the VC10 variants? ie Standard, Super and military tankers/transports.
Thank you.

VNE varied with altitude. For the RAF VC10 CMk1, at sea level it was around 330k indicated, initially rising slightly during the climb but then falling off markedly at higher levels, its real time value indicated automatically by a moving 'wasp' pointer on the face of the ASI.

MMO - can't recall exactly what this is (sorry, it's all a long time ago!), but normal cruise was M.84 (max range) or M.86 (normal cruise), with a never-exceed of M.886 (all values inidicated, true mach no. was .02 less); however M.92 was always demonstrated on type conversion, so that pilots could recognise the symptoms of high speed buffet.

A "cat question" refers to the annual ground check where people like me ask peole like 6' difficult questions to see how much they know!:ok:

With emphasis on ATC procedures, no doubt........;)

Incidentally, I preferred not to answer the question as it might disclose operational capabilities.

But the jet did get quite noisy over M0.9....

Was it the Nav screaming whilst trying to calculate huger numbers?
