Hi.
I've been trying to understand what you need to do to convert your South African license to JAR.
I know you must do the ATPL theory course.
But what about CPL/ME/IR?
And what about PPL?
Anything more i've missed?

Same as any other ICAO-compliant license. If you already have an ICAO-compliant CPL/IR, you need to pass the CPL and IR skills tests. The IR has a minimum 15hrs conversion training, the CPL is simply as required.

Oh, and the exams, of course.

hello,

im looking to head out there early next year to start my PPL with border aviation, looks a very interesting place and the standards are second to none.

in regards to the conversion, you will need a coversion course when back here in the uk, already been quoted £260 for that.

in regards to everything else, i am looking to do my hours building over there aswell, plus my night rating and IM.

please PM me and ill forward you a brochure.

regards,

How about PPL. Must you convert something for the PPL?
And how does it add to £260k for a conversion course?
How much is 1 CPL hour and how much is an IR hour?
ATPL theory cannot be more than say around £10k?

Thanks for the answers.
I appreciate them.
