Now that most(all?) American airlines have introduced a charge for alcoholic drinks on their flights, what is the situation with regard to codeshare flights?

If I buy a ticket through Virgin, and fly on a Continental flight, am I required to pay for alcoholic drinks?

Not desperate, just asking! :)

The rules of the airlines whose metal you are flying apply.

So, Continental metal = Continental rules/charges apply.

Depending on who you fly, it could be worse than just paying for alcoholic drinks.

United Airlines is about to discontinue meals (http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=20601087&sid=a2hssF7MnyXo&refer=home) for those flying economy across the Atlantic from Washington Dulles to Europe, moving instead to buy on board.

Could be a bit of a shock if you had bought a ticket from Lufthansa!
