Well the results are in and the Safety People are claiming success and thinking of installing it in other parts of Cambridgeshire and the A14.

Serious Crashes: 2 (07/08) 11 (06/07)
Deaths: 0 (07/08) 2 (06/07)
Crashes 66 (07/08) 83 (06/07)

Speeding Tickets & offences recorded:

91 (in just one week of testing before it went live)
31 (in the whole year after it went live)

(Yes 91 and 31)

Probably got more to do with the removal of the static cameras that caused traffic to suddenly slow down as the great unwashed slowed to 60.....

TBH I have not noticed any real difference during the day, (when I firmly believe that anyone caught speeding should be awarded +3 points and a cash sum) as the true limit is set by them BFO trucks doing 56 in both lanes.

Whisperer, the cash sum would come in handy, but the three points, what would we do with them, is there a scheme where you collect them, and take them down to the local Argus to swap for goods, when you have enough. You did say awarded.....:E

Guess no option then but to go back to the pre-SPEC days. Revenue from the fines, death duties etc must be a big (bigger) hole in Guver mint coffers.
