My brother and his wife are coming to UK for Xmas.

We have checked a variety of routes and prices.

Ideally we are looking for either Premium Economy or Business Class, depending of course on price: best we have is around $2600 for Business with Continental, around $2000 for PE with BA and VS.

Any recommendations on routing / carrier for best deal / service?

TRSS, the UK destination could be useful. Have you checked KLM Business Class ATL-AMS-UK? They do quite a cheaper (partially restricted) C class fare if you book early enough, although to be honest it might not be available around the peak Christmas travel period.

They can fly into London, Manchester or Glasgow and Edinburgh. KLM / Northwest might be an option.

TRSS, you don't mention dates. BA has a "restricted" Business Class fare for about 3000USD on their own booking site, for a week at Christmas. It is 1800USD for a restricted WTP ticket.

Good luck!

Thanks folks. We've found Continental has the best price for business via EWR at $2500 to EDI.

Just a pity that DL canned their ATL-EDI direct route as their service on that route used to be superb.:sad:

My brother did a check last night on optimum price / route and the DL ATL - MAN service has come up trumps in terms of price vs convenience. It's standing at $2300 for C against BA $1800 for WT+ to LGW.

It will be interesting to see, on routes like Atlanta to London, how the fares go now the nonstop carriers can use Heathrow rather than Gatwick. Those from the US end went beserk over this issue for many years (BA seemed less fussed about it). For all the effort that went into whinging about access to Heathrow not Gatwick I would guess it must be worth something like $100 per seat.

Madness! I'd pay $100 not to fly to/from Heathrow!
