I have a question/request,

Does anyone have any recordings or at least any information on the man who does all the spanish airport announcements. He can be heard all over spain as well as the Canary Islands?

Many thanks

If you are meaning the man who does the English translation, he does most airports across the globe. I have just returned from PVG last month and his voice was there in the airport. It really is a soothing a 'homely' voice.

Must be once of the most heard voices in the world!

Love the Spanish Airport announcenments when they try to pronounce BMI Baby and the destination airport seems to be a different more aggressive voice. And then the English translation, so posh!!!!

I love it when they announce: ".....Jet two, two......to Manchester" (or some other destination). Never heard such a confusion of twos and tos!

The man who does the Spanish Airport announcements......he's a pentium computer chip! You'd think a human voice doing Spanish announcements in Spain would be able to pronounce MaJorca and Marbeller the Spanish way, not the English way! He's a computer voice speaking typed input.

i work in malaga airport and yes, most of the announcements are computer generated. there has been the odd exception where the computer system is not capable of pronouncing certain words or in certain languages so normally one of the male handling staff will record them.

I know it's a computer...but it's like any announcements ie. tube. They pay someone to record all the words and then a computer pieces them together.

Sorry mrlb, it was the old Faulty towers joke, Manuel the waiter had a catch phrase "Im from Barcelona". I no nothing about this person.

.....which takes a light, flippant thread to bizarre stupid heights, ready for closure! If anybody else doesn't understand, that was an extremely weak attempt at 'humour'! Don't bother trying to understand it.

I can reliably inform you that the male the voice used for all English language announcements at Spànish Airports, and many other Countries is the wonderful clear voice of Allan Taylor, You probably recognised iys familiarity but could not quite put your finger on a name.
Allan moved to Spain, shortly after ending his contracts with TWW (Television Wales and the West) And later Harlech TV, where for many many years he compared a successful quiz program in English, called Mr and Mrs, In which contestants showed how much they knew about their spouces, with some hilerious responces to questions
Dear Allan was contracted to speak into a computer program, using every possible combination of words that could ever be needed for any regular Airport anouncement, NOW the typist types in the message and the computer then generates what ever has been written, a voice recognition system steps in and interprets the message, sometimes it feels or sounds shall we say robotic,
Allan died, but his voice lives on, because it was chosen for its incredible clarity of diction, many other countries around the world also use the same program and Allan Taylors voice, also the Benidorm Palace use Allans Voice (as do many organizers of public events) to welcome the diners and Show audience, to ask them not to use cameras and videos whilst artists are on stage, 10 minutes before the show starts. I do hope this has been helpful to you. D:ok::)

I like the voice, but I fancy having the preceding "noise" as a ring tone.... you know the one with the increasing bongs ;)

Anyone know if it can be downloaded anywhere?

Spanish Airport Announcements are all done by the same person. He is the man int he video, an English teacher.

The video is in Spanish. It is in San Sebastián Airport EAS and he explain how he produce each flight announcement:

''Departure of flight ______ to ________ please proceed boarding to gate number ___''

In this spaces he records numbers from 0 to 9, letters from A to Z and names of all Spanish Airports. Then a computer makes the selection to give the message.

And here an example:

''Departure of flight ______ to ________ please proceed boarding to gate number ___''

It is a little bit different for last calls :) This says:

''Last Call For Passengers on flight ______ to ________ please proceed urgently to gate number ___''

For some reason some of the names of airlines and airport seem louder than the actual announcement. Seems to be stuff after 2002. For example at Malaga, East Midlands says 'Nottingham East Midlands Airport' and it is louder than the rest of the announcement. Another example is 'Vueling Airlines'.

After all the vitriolic chat on the other forums it is a pleasure to have something actually quite funny. I must say I laugh at those AGP announcements too. Much funnier than the 'How much is that doggy in the window' announcement tone at GVA!
