Hi

I have tried to find the answer to this and cant.

Does anyone know what the requirements for the JAA FNPT simulators are! Most of them seem to be in the £160 TO £190 PH, whereas in other countries it is a fraction of the cost, so there must be a catch when doing the 40 hours simulator flying here in the UK for the IR as opposed to doing it somewhere else that is a fraction of the cost……

What am I missing?

Thanks

Its called the UK factor. Same reason that beer is expensive and that you get ripped off at the supermarket or pay double for your electronics compared to the US or elsewhere. They charge what they can get away with. Simple as that. The schools of course will bleat on about regulatory costs etc etc.

Imagine if there were a handful of quality schools competing for students, that turned out a quality product using the latest equipment. Fewer schools means more profit and it should mean a lower cost base resulting in a lower cost to the student - in an ideal world. Instead you have every man and his dog offering this and that with clapped out 1960's gear from all 4 corners. Some schools hang around, others close taking your hard earned with you. In the current climate the old adages of choosing your school wisely and never paying up front are even more important.
