View Full Version : Pope's flight
relax737 21st Jul 2008, 00:48 I turned on the telly to watch the midmorning news and was treated to the departure of the Pope on QF. How sickening it was to hear the fawning journos, oozing false admiration, and struggling for superlatives for the Pope.
Now I bet the crewing arrangements were interesting; I reckon they would have modified the flight deck, all the way back to row 20, to fit all the management cock suckers in. A FD the size of the MCG would have been about right.
I'd be surprised if the CP and his deputy weren't crewing, along with every management suck in the airline.
I wonder if the "Manager European" managed a gig? Surely reading a 400 manual, or perhaps even walking past a manual prior, would have qualified him.
It reminds me of when AN carried the Olympic torch back in 2000. The CP, who normally couldn't be dragged into an aircraft before 10.00 am and after 4.00 pm was there, flying through the night, along with his suckhole mates, and the reason the CP was crewing?? In case there was a problem, he would be on the spot to fix the crisis!!
sisemen 21st Jul 2008, 01:04 Wow! I thought that my thread "How tacky can you get" was close to the bone but.....

CityofFlight 21st Jul 2008, 01:37 Sisemen...couldn't agree more.
Perhaps there's more behind the seething than meets the eye.

BlueDiamond 21st Jul 2008, 09:35 How sickening it was to hear the fawning journos, oozing false admiration, and struggling for superlatives for the Pope.
Funny you should say that ... I've noticed journos doing the same sycophantic, crawling routine with footballers, rock stars, golf players, celebrities, the Olympic Games, the Royal family ...
... you'd almost think they were paid to do that!
very old flyer 21st Jul 2008, 12:43 Relax737, without being judgemental, you sound like a bit of a non gender-specific sexual organ.
Always thought the Pope flew Alitalia, did the Aussies provide the plane or does his Holiness pick up the tab??
Impress to inflate 21st Jul 2008, 21:22 I'm with you Reax737, I've been forced to watch this crap on TV news for days now, Mugabee saga goes on etc etc but leading news is the frigging pope. My wife is just back from 4 days in Sydney and said the place is full of Happy Clappers ramming joy and song down everyone throat. Who gives a sh^t if he's in town.
Sorry for the rant, feel much better now.:ugh::ugh:
rotaryman 21st Jul 2008, 22:23 Heard that the only reason the pilgrams gathered at Randwick was because it was the only place you could legally Ride a Three year old !! Ha Ha Ha :yuk::ok:

BlueDiamond 21st Jul 2008, 23:12 ... I've been forced to watch this crap on TV news for days now ...
Err ... no, you haven't. If you watched it, it was by choice. There were plenty of other options open to you ... leave the room for a few minutes, turn the TV off (yes, Virginia, they DO come with "off" switches), change the channel to "sport" or "wildlife" or whatever, close your eyes and stick your fingers in your ears like a kid, or go and make a cuppa until the next news item comes on ...
Don't complain about something you chose to do.
rotaryman 22nd Jul 2008, 00:07 Errrr:
What about all the street closures and inconvenience cause to the Thousands of Sydney Folk?
What a Joke to have this forced upon us non believers!!
Shoulda had their get together in the desert, and they could chant and rant and rave all they like then.
11Fan 22nd Jul 2008, 05:37 That idea was already taken.
BlueDiamond 22nd Jul 2008, 06:10 What about all the street closures and inconvenience cause to the Thousands of Sydney Folk?
I imagine they will deal with that in the same way they dealt with the Olympic Games or the APEC summit last year. If Sydneysiders don't want the fuss, they should make it clear to their government (probably the Dept. of Premier and Cabinet) that they don't want any more heads of state invited over. It was the same when Bush visited the state last year ...
Sydney people are just too fecking parochial for words.
HotDog 22nd Jul 2008, 06:10 Relax737, impress, et al. You prefer marching in a bowler hat then? Get a life, live and let live. Also, have a liver function test at your earliest opportunity.
