Dont know about it being sent home, but it was flying low, and loud as hell.

Almost unbearable at one point. :eek:

Just found this additional picture taken just before my first image posted, this shows some low bushes infront of me to give some perspective. Well, the Yank bomber fleet do have a fine tradition of flying accuracy to maintain re Farnborough............................:rolleyes:

It is a great big MF of an aircraft, love it.

They fly in from RAF Fairford Each Day and returned there.Very good display
most of time . One was A bit off wandered slightly but at least we get to
See them. Good displays from F22 - F18 -F16 but Show Star is in my
view the Vulcan . A380 excellent Displays all week . Its a GOOD show
given the economic Situation . From a local I have driven all week with little
or no disruption to my journeys . Well done the organisers of this event.

Well today (thurs) the B1B was a pile of poo. One slow boring pass to annouce its appearance, yawn, followed by a massively wide circuit and another slightly louder, slightly faster pass then it buggered off. Was pilot in a tiz because of his rollocking from day before?

Rumour has it that the B1 display pilot on Thursday was subsequently 'disqualified' from performing again at Farnborough for crossing the crowd line ("dobbed in" courtesy of QinetiQ who are monitoring the display aircraft) and also for aledgedly encroaching controlled airspace (Ockham hold!) at 6000ft :eek:

Having watched the proceedings yesterday, i was both disappointed and impressed in equal measures by the B-1B. It arrived without being announced high and slow in the murk and then did a large circuit before coming back through (over the TAG terminal side) at great speed and with wings swept back and engines roaring, causing babies to cry and car alarms to go off and then it was gone.....:ugh:

With all due respect what was the point of it coming ? Surely it could have done a touch and go and/or several more passes of varying style. It had come from Faiford, so endurance can't have been an issue. It just seemed to be ill thought out and over before most of the crowd knew what had happened.

Lot of unhappy people there today when told to take down 'small fishing tents' & windbreaks & unbrellas! - said to be a danger if they were blown onto runway, only snag with that arguement is that the wind was in the other direction. Even more unlikely for pegged down tent to be uprooted with people sitting in it. Yellow coated jobsworths lacking common sense and annoying a lot of people. If tents were to be a problem then please let people know in advance by putting signs in the car parks or use the PA.

Car parking worked ok but there was some confusion by staff not knowing what bit of the ticket to keep - I ended up having both bits taken before going through security check which did cause a a delay.

I'm with the yellow-coated jobsworths.

I'm a long-time showgoer to the likes of Finningley, Church Fenton, Waddington and Farnborough.

I made my debut at Biggin Hill last year. It is a fine airfield and it was a fine show. It was only marred by the selfishness of my fellow Surreyites who sealed off the entire crowd line with their marked out patches of land identified by tents and windbreaks. This blocked the front off to all others. Southerners must be proud of themselves.

I noted one or two copying this selfishness at Waddington but fortunately a minority.

What's wrong with occupying a post near the front and rotating with others? Sharing? Showing respect and some community spirit at a public event?

I was pleased there was little evidence of this selfishness at Farnborough. (Marvellous show).

If the yellow coated jobsworths were responsible and were briefed to end this "I'm allright jack screw everybody else mentality" then lets spread it to all airshows.

Well if you want a good spot at the front then you have to make an effort and get there early. A small fishing shelter does not take up that much room and is not tall and anyway the aircraft are sufficiently high as to be seen by all. As a photographer however to get the action / rotation shots a place at the front is needed and even then does not stop others 'muscleing in' which results in people standing at the front just to keep a place.

If tents / windbreaks / umbrellas! were going to be banned then why wait until people have put them up - we all went through a security check to get in so put signs up there or at the car parks to save people the hassle of carrying them into the show only to find they could not be used.

I do get there early paulc. The clan Strelnikov have been regulars up and early pootling down the A64 / M62 / A1 etc since the early 1960s. We love the dawn convoy (I led a five vehicle convoy to Waddo this year with my brother bringing up the rear in a camper van - great fun).

We COULD mark out our plot at the crowd line like the folk I've criticised.

However, we CHOOSE not to. It's selfish and mean spirited.

I think airshow promoters should ban tents / windbreaks from being located within 15 feet of the crowd line.

The places at the front are taken on a first come first served basis so if you want one of those then you have to make the effort. (only 5 vehicles in front of me on Saturday) There is no difference between somebody putting up a small tent / windbreak and a family wth numerous chairs to keep a space - do you want to ban chairs next ? A tent offers shelter from the rain (as it did saturday between 8 & 9) and sun + a secure place to put camera gear without having to keep one eye on it all the time.

The reasons given for taking them down were flawed as the wind was blowing away from the runway - plenty of display boards were blown over during the morning yet these were still allowed.

No - I did not use / have access to / a tent / umbrella / chair during the day
