There was an awesome thread here last year, with some amazing photographs of the helicopters that were at the 2007 Riverstone car race (I think that was what the main event was??), taken by "AFCSOff". I was so taken by his work that I bought my first digital SLR last fall, and have been messing about with it off and on ever since.
I attended a local helicopter airshow today, with my Nikon D40 and a couple lenses in tow (one borrowed). My results are not even in the same ballpark as AFCSOff's, but I would hope that most helicopter nuts will enjoy one or two of these:

BTW this event is essentially an airshow held at a museum, so there are shots of both things here.
Hopefully I'll do better next year 8^) .
