When you say the circuit does being in the overhead count or do you actually need to be downwind?

I'm sure SSBS won't mind a clarification:-

Wickenby Wings ‘n Wheels Weekend 28th & 29th June 2008

Saturday 28th, 08:00 – 10:00, DAWN PATROL – Rules of Engagement

Nominated Scout Aircraft will mount a dawn patrol around the airfield between the hours of 0800 – 1000 in order to detect and identify any Hostiles which may pose a threat to perimeter security and valuable materiel (Eggs, Bacon – Breakfast, for the use of).

Patrols will operate approximately 4 to 5 nm from the airfield in quandrantal sectors; North East, South East, South West & North West. Two aircraft will patrol each quadrant, vertical separation appropriate to wx to be briefed on the day. Anti ICBM top cover may also be provided.

Hostiles which are detected will have their identifying details and position announced over the radio (Wickenby Radio 122.450) and recorded by A/G Op(bacon control).

However, a successful attack will be deemed to have been made should a Hostile arrive at the boundary of the ATZ (at, or above, circuit height) and announce joining to land WITHOUT being spotted by the patrolling aircraft.

In any event, Hostiles (and any other aircraft without hostile intent) must call their position and details no less than 2 nm from the airfield or when spotted.

A successful attack will be rewarded by the provision of Free Breakfast to the Pilot (and Co-Pilot if so crewed).

[This is a fun event, however the highest standards of airmanship are required at all times. Keep a good lookout, fly sensibly, fly safely.
As with all GA events, we are wx dependent on the day!]
