Heard that a Bell 206L operated by Helifix of Port Moresby crashed into a lake around 11000ft on Mt Willhelm in the highlands of PNG....understand the crew are ok....and the owners are looking for a MIL to lift it out....bravohotel

Are there any MILS left on the P2 register?

Dropped an L3 into the edge of the lake.
11,000 feet, full fuel and pilot plus four pax.
Wonder how much left pedal he had remaining in the hover at 11000??

Glad everyone is ok, I expect some ego's are a little bruised. When will some learn that what comes off the ground easy in POM comes down even easier at 11,000 +.

I heard a rumour one of the passengers was a "MINISTER" by the initials of BC

Might have been some pressure on the pilot to do something he didn't really want to

It happened to me.

There are no Mil's on the P2 register- Pacific had one on a P2 register a long time ago!, thats the only one ever.

Hey Granny
then what was that big ugly looking thang sitting on the hard at Jackson's yesterday?
Painted in Hevilift (Regional)colours.

It was a Mil!, but they are not on the P2 register!- they are on a Russian rego and grounded.

Granny,
TM spent millions trying to put them on the PNG reg. did they ever get on or was that idea finally scratched?
What a waste.
Cheers

They are working thru the process with CAA, and I beleive they may be flying again real soon, if not already.

HL Mils operating normally, have not been grounded P2 cerification pending. Granny.

Defence Force apron has become Heliniuginis apron also hangar.
Apron littered with KA 32's unlikely to fly again in PNG

Actually Hevilift's are on the Moldovan register as are Heli-Harvests. MH-Heliniugini's Russian gear still on the RA- register. Exceedingly unlikely that any Russian gear will ever get on the P2- register. Why would the Russians translate the manuals into English anyway? Do themselves out of a job? I don't think so. Remember how difficult it was for VIH to get that Kamov onto the C- register.

On the subject of helicopters being bent in PNG, is it true that a B2 was also lost recently under the command of a long time PNG driver?

Well then, it depends on your definition of "lost"; it's not lost, they know exactly where it is!

Good definition Gullibell......

Well okay, lost as in a loss of being useful for a very long time.
From the reply I gather that the event did indeed happen then.

Would you feel free to tell us where it might be even?
