206L down in PNG

Heard that a Bell 206L operated by Helifix of Port Moresby crashed into a lake around 11000ft on Mt Willhelm in the highlands of PNG....understand the crew are ok....and the owners are looking for a MIL to lift it out....bravohotel

There are no Mil's on the P2 register- Pacific had one on a P2 register a long time ago!, thats the only one ever.

It was a Mil!, but they are not on the P2 register!- they are on a Russian rego and grounded.

They are working thru the process with CAA, and I beleive they may be flying again real soon, if not already.

HL Mils operating normally, have not been grounded P2 cerification pending. Granny.

Actually Hevilift's are on the Moldovan register as are Heli-Harvests. MH-Heliniugini's Russian gear still on the RA- register. Exceedingly unlikely that any Russian gear will ever get on the P2- register. Why would the Russians translate the manuals into English anyway? Do themselves out of a job? I don't think so. Remember how difficult it was for VIH to get that Kamov onto the C- register.

On the subject of helicopters being bent in PNG, is it true that a B2 was also lost recently under the command of a long time PNG driver?
