worryingly the answer for me is yes - I think it looks a great aircraft! But i've never seen a helicopter started literally "BY HAND" before!

Perhaps just a teensy chance of a wind-up..but all credit to the ground chap who obviously has a blade exclusion zone around his head :uhoh:

I know I posted the video - but I just love that! If I knew it was safe i'd love to fly one of them.
Does anyone know what they were used for? No T/R so probably quite good for lifting but then it has 2 piston engines so maybe not that strong, and 2 crew?

I'd fly in it.

It looks, sounds and smokes very much like an old VW Beetle I once owned! Bloody loved that car. Never let me down............much!

Cheers

Empty 4300lbs, max GW 7170lbs, 2x 320hp radial piston engines. Sounds like it's a bit underpowered.

There's a bunch of KA-26 clips on Youtube now. I believe most of them are Hungarian (HA reg?) and are used on Ag operations. Quirky looking beast! :ok:

Do you think that might actually be running on Vodka! Housten we have Shmirnoff!

Very rare to have multi engine pistons. Always thought this was an untapped market. Allowing pilots to get multi time without the crazy cost of multi turbines.

That Kamov on start-up makes the R44 look positively space-age!

(A turbine heli-pilot's definition of hell? - A thousand hours flying that KA-26!)
