Possibly the most tedious thread in this website's long and distinguished history, however can anyone tell me if the RAF still broadcast a UK Volmet on HF at each 00 and 30 minutes ?
I seem to remember that Architect broadcast some weather or colour states when I flew with the RAF some years ago.
I now fly the 737 for a well known british airline, and the RAF 11's and 5's frequencies are given in our AERAD booklets with a list of civilian and military airfields; but I have heard nothing whilst flying over Europe this week.

RAF VOLMET is continuously broadcast on 5450 and 11253kHz, normally from Inskip. Both transmissions are normally easily audible here in east Wales on various HF receivers and antennas but there's nothing on either outlet this morning. However, I've been away since last Saturday and don't know how long they've been off.

Architect now calls itself Tascomm but is still on the old frequencies. However the colour state and regional pressure settings don't seem to be broadcast anymore.

Further to my last, 5450 and 11253 are now audible at my location near EGOS and both seem to be at their normal levels.

Tascomm have a set of new frequencies also. The continuous volmet is broadcast on 5450 and 11253 but the +00 and +30 broadcasts on the other frequencies have ceased (or supposed to have??) although i think Cyprus is still broadcasting.
The primary Tascomm location is now Forest Moor with a backup at Kinloss.

Haven't listened to them for a while but 4742 was still active 6 months ago.

VOLMET may be not available nowadays, but I think you may find that Radio Beagle is still available on any available frequency!

Hi all,
Will try again later next week, and keep you posted of my adventures in European HF reception.
Anyway, thanks everyone for your replies, as you'll agree, there's nothing like warming up your 'upper side band' when in the cruise !

My hazy, alcohol addled memory tells me 4722 & 11234kHz but that was 15 years ago
I can recall, in the early 90s, having to run up 3 flights of stairs at HQ 1 GP, Upavon to reboot the VOLMET comp after a power cut,(a frequent occurence at Upavon!!!!!). I often wondered who was listening to the broadcasts out in the wide blue yonder
