So by EMB145/135 you mean BMI Regional? I'd change the title of your post to save the confusion :ok:

Dont take BMI seriously. Ill try and keep this nice and simple.

BMI takes your overall weight and your overall height and calculates this towards the AVERAGE person. However, you may have a larger muscular mass than the average joe.
For example my BMI is 28.9 which is nearly obese.
I am 5ft 8 and 185lb yet i have 8% bodyfat (this is far far less than the average joe)

MT, it might have something to do with the 14 pints of beer you drink a night. And you are breaking the law by doing that judging by your age!

Friend of mine has had a call and invite to interview next week for the embraer I believe. So either the hold pool is emptying, or they are trying to fill up a course.

Looks like they are filling up the pool again in preparation for some possible FO recruitment for the spring / summer next year....

Medusa is not joking. British Midland do have a Body Mass Index limit for pilots. It's around 28-29ish. I do wonder why a 16 YO would know this though. :hmm:

Just to clear up a bit of confusion that seems to exist in this thread -

There are three distinct divisions within the bmi (NB it is in the lowercase).

bmi mainline (HQ Donington Hall, EMA. Main base LHR)
The UK's member of the Star Alliance and 2nd largest user of Heathrow

bmi regional (HQ and Main Base Aberdeen)
UK and European scheduled flights using EMB

bmibaby (HQ and Main base EMA)
LCC to UK and European destination using B737

Each division has it's own AOC and operates as an independent airline in the eyes of the CAA. Obviously there is an overarching corporate structure to take advantage of economy of scale.

Recruitment is also carried out independently but there is a migration from bmir and bmibaby to mainline for pilots wishing to make the move. Mainline recruitment is done to a pool and thence normally onto the shorthaul routes.

Finally within bmi mainline there are three further sections
Longhaul - A330 - USA, Carribean, Saudi Arabia
Mid-haul - A321/ A320 / Damp Leased 757 - Near and Middle East, Africa, Russia
Short Haul - A321/320/319 - UK and Europe.

This is not a definitive list but only intended to give an outline.

Hope it helps

WW.

CAPS is shouting - which is rude!

Had you thought that with over 500 posts Deano777 might have bought the Probationary title? Some people prefer to keep a lower profile!

I spoke with the Mainline recruiter today and the answer is that they are NOT recruiting. Sorry!

He suggested that you keep an eye on the website - but, personally speaking as a current bmi employee, I wouldn't hold your breath!

BMI Regional on the other hand ARE currently recruiting!

My educated guess is you will need minimum of 500-1000hrs with some Public Transport time and or Instructing time.

Best of Luck

Are they recruiting to just top up the holding pool or is it for courses?

I am affraid I don't know. I just know that a few friends have been called for interview over the past few days. Time will tell.

We are being told two stories by management at the moment.

1) Airframes are becoming more easy to find and the potential for a 'cheap deal' to increase the fleet size is increasing.

2) The winter period is set to be a little slow again, little chance of command upgrades for elligable F/o's.

Maybe it seems that things could get moving in a big way come next spring. But then if a 'Never to be repeated' cheap airframe comes on the market in the next few months.......

Hope this helps.
