Anybody got a squadron standard they would like to march about with for 10 days prior to RIAT? One thing you must have is your own camp bed and sleeping bag and like "field conditions" Happy days!:bored:

As shy torque says, are you being shot at?

If not, there are worse places to be. Man up.

Been shot at many times in the past so not the point I was making.

Lets take 2% of of of the RAF manpower out of the equation for 10 days....800 people out of a strength of perhaps 42,000 and use them as smart dummies to make the top brass like Torpey el al look good in front of Royalty!

What a load of bollocks! Any mention of the Nimrod enquiry at RIAT? Sorry, I have had enough, my PVR via JPA went in last week - if JPA was working correctly?

While I am on my high horse will there be a memorial at RIAT for the RAF personel lost in operations over the last few years in Iraq and Afghanistan? And the Waddo Air show? I very much doubt it, but some focal point would be good to allow serving members to show some respect to fallen comrades, both aircrew and groundcrew. ( we should not forget the RAF Regiment)

I for one think some recognition of their sacrifice should be part of these air shows.

Rant over!

Good point EOSM37 - I do realise that memorial is there but do we do enough during airshows like RIAT or Waddo to remind people of the sacrifice that our people have done.

I also realise why I used to post on PPRUne a few years ago and left. You don't take prisoners on this message board! :\

"Well you have clearly been in too long, so perhaps this a good chance to clear some of the dead wood old crusties out and let some fresh blood in. Good luck with your future chosen career. Don't forget to hand your watch back in."

How I shall miss it with people like you in charge. You need a personality transplant! Get a life!

This from the RIAT website.

"During this RAF 90th Anniversary year, we are reflecting on the sacrifices and achievements of RAF personnel - Past and Present -"

You going?

Once but not on holiday! Nimrodair was the airline, lucky to have arrived safely by all accounts! Hope your C-17 makes it OK?

Been 'volunteered' too; sounds like 6 days practice, 1 day off then the parade. May have to go into Cheltenham a lot in the evenings to drown sorrows etc.

The only sacrifice appropriate to RIAT these days is the cost to get in or the price of anything while you are in there. The senior bods who endorse it for the Air Force obviously have no problem with being associated with usury in its many forms.

I was due to join you guys however i'm not now unfortunately. I'd just bought a new camp bed as well! Suely it'll be worth it to have the honour of parading the standard?

QFIhawkman I take it buy your user name you don't spend much time being shot at either!

The QFI might not be all he claims to be. My info is that when he's calling for the barrier it's the one by the guardroom, not on the runway :ok:
