The Government is very proud of all our service personnel who have served and are serving on operations overseas. They risk their lives to protect the interests of the United Kingdom. With great determination and professionalism they help to build strong, stable, democratic nations. We owe them an immense debt of gratitude. We will always honour those who have given their lives in this work, and we are strongly committed to providing our best possible support to their families.

...but there is nothing we can do, so the petition was a waste of time.

Why am I surprised. This government simply doesn't care.

No British government has ever cared about its servicemen. Ask any poor Tom who served in NI or the Feklands. If I recall, they were paid more for being enroute than they were for fighting in sheep **** and misery and some of the Argie kit was Gucci in comparison. As for looking after the damaged when all the hoo ha had died down. I can't see my screen for the venom I am spitting now.
