The German word for Island. Have two MD80's and Two EMB-110's. Curacao based. Does anyone have any other info on them? Contact info and working conditions as a pilot? Say's they will expand to the US and have been expanding nicely to South America and Caribbean. I have a DC9/MD80 type rating and would like to fly the routes they fly. They remind me of Air Aruba or ALM if anyone remembers them. Thanks for any info as always.

Still no news on the F50 or in general for Insel? Any plans to hire, payscales, terms/conditions?

Maybe some one can help me out! I have been invited by Insel Air to discuss a possible employment with them but the fact is that I am not rated on the F50 but rather on a similar turboprop.
My question is (seeing that I was not given too much details about the conditions but rather have to travel to Cur to attend the interview) if you are not rated on the F50 and get hired do you have to pay the type yourself and how much will it cost? What are the salaries at Insel?

I would appreciate if someone can shed some light!

Thanks in advance!

Any info on recruitment for this and next year?

My contact at Insel told me recruitment for MD (expat) F/O's was done last month. Trying to hire/upgrade locals for F-50 positions. Less expensive for management then expats. Salary for MD and F50 pilots are LOWEST in the industry for both expat and locals. ESPECIALY for locals. Official news is always unreliable since management keeps changing there minds and looking for the cheapest option. Hope this info helped.

And most probably you have to pay the Type Rating!!

Hey Papa Petje

So far I understood ALL the guys that got F-50 type rating are locals and have only been bonded and not paid the rating itself. But, they like and rather have JAA guys here for the F50 and guys with experience. But cost too much for management. So as soon as they can train locals for the position (less salary) they will be assigned to F50.Remember, there CAA just got busted down to category 2. But if you want give it a try and ask them. Wont hurt and good luck.

As far as I heared and understood no one has paid there own type rating. Was all done by the company. Lets not give management any new ideas (hahahahahaha). Most F50 expats are JAA guys. Remember there CAA just got busted down to cat2. But as soon as the new locals are trained they will replace the expats. Expats are TOOOOO EXPENSIVE for management. Told you, locals salary are the LOWEST in the industry.

As they drag their feet but they keep advertising.

I know that the ABC islands are expensive and crime is somewhat high. Go have a look at the FB site of Insel and it does not paint a good picture.

Flying second hand aircraft on long stretches and some odd places is a tough business. ALM and DCA could not make it work.

Personally, I think the pay is low and the cost of living high. The bennies I know nothing of.

You do know that their are better, more high paying jobs out there.

I vote thumbs down.

Seems like some people are indeed leaving. A Curacao licence is needed to work at InselAir and a conversion requires the applicant to take five local ATPL exams. I wonder how many people are up for that...
