Not withstanding the published PVR waiting times, has anybody heard if PMA are sympathtetic if a written offer of employment starts before release date, will they allow one to leave sooner to take up the offer of employment?

Recently "been there done that" after 23 yrs, if you're NCA and convince the poster that you have a job offer, you can "negotiate" the stnd 18 mths reply down to 6!! sweet.:ok:

I was in a similar position recently. I asked, PMA said no. The firm kept the job open anyway. You would have great difficultly challenging it legally, vast parts of employment law don't apply to HMF personnel. Even if you mounted a challenge, it would probably take too long and cost too much. Good luck

I may be in a similar situation depending on a police medical next week. I spoke to ACOS manning last week and a lot of it is dependant on the comments on your PVR by the line manager i.e if they say you have a firm job offer and they are prepared to gap the post you may be allowed to leave early. However a caveat here is not gapping the post for too long or they may think there is no requirement for somebody to fill the post and it will get disestablished. As we do 4 months OOA and the unit copes that may be a reasonable period.:ok:

PVR'd in Feb, Asked for Sept 1st, and got it.

JPA asks for reasons when PVRing, I ticked Job offer and kept a copy of the offer of contract in case it was asked for. (it never was).

It is also down to your individual section, it they will run light.....If you have done your 22 I cant see how anyone would say NO..

Some trades only have to give 6 months now, a reduction from 18 mths

At the end of the last century (I love saying that...) when I PVR'd a mate of mine also took the long walk to civillianhood. He had a job offer in writing from a company but was politely told that he would have to wait the full 18 months his trade group were allocated.

A couple of weeks later he appealed, after taking advice from a local solicitor specialising in employment law. He was politely told by WO PSF that his appeal had been refused, at which he placed the solicitors card on the desk in front of him and said "Fair enough, I'm taking you to court". WO PSF then got back on the phone to Innsworth, spoke to them for a couple of minutes then said to my mate with a wide grin "How does 6 weeks grab you?"

Admittedly things may have changed now, but the question is how much are you prepared to push the system to get out in the time you want?
