How do these 2 companies compare? ie. Salary, Time from F/O to Captain, Benefits, Employee happiness, etc.

Have friends in both companys and from what I understand they are just about the same to work for. Not 100% sure but i think the move from FO to Command might be a little faster in CHC. Both are very happy with the money and conditions. I belive CHC Helikopter service is going to hire 40 pilots in 2008-2009. Norsk is also looking for drivers, don't know how many.

Thank you for the info, any idea what allowances FO's will get over and above the monthly salary?

Hi,

Concerning salary.... Number is before or after taxes? :E

That is before tax.
Norway has a system they call "vacationmoney". Meaning that in May (some companies June) each year you recieve 12% (taxfree) of what you made the year before (before tax).
In addition each November (some companies December) you pay only half tax.

With these additional money you recieve roughly 14 monthsalaries in a 12 month period.
Tax is about 38-40% if you start with startingsalary 44667 NOK/month.

Thank you for your fast answer... Do you know if they have some roster pilots?

Yes
14-14 or 7-7 schedule exists. If there is a free slot for it, it will be addressed internally, but senioritylist desides if you can have it or not.

Otherwise it is 5-2-5-9 schedule that the bulk of us pilots having. 173 workingdays/year.

No direct entry captains.
Even though 8 pilots right now going through the captains upgrade there will be a need for additional 7-8 captains at years end (my own speculation), when the last planned pilot employment has been done. By then Norsk Helikopter hits nearly 100 pilots.

Hi,
has anybody any news concerning the recruiting procedure of both companies?
ex. how many pilots, when they will hire them, do they hire non-natives.

Hello
Norsk is following a "salaryladder" which is based on amount of flyinghours you have upon emplyment. You step up one step every year, up to max step 30.
Less than 1999 h. step 1.
Less than 2999 h. step 2,
and finally less than 3999 h. you start in step 3.
Step 3 (= 49.770 NOK/m.) is the highest step you can start in.
Step 10 equals 63.745 NOK/m.

When becoming captain you get additional 18.076 NOK/m. In Norway senioritylist is quite rigid.
These salarynumbers are valid until 31/3-09, then new and higher numbers takes over. Example; step 3=52.757 NOK/m.

Please note the "nonsalary" things as LoL, Lifeinsurance and pension are all quite good.
