Hi guys,

I understand this has been done to death, but I cannot find an answer that's specific to my question...

I am shortsighted (-3/4 diopters) so can obtain a class one medical (although I understand the RAF may have it's own criteria), does this prohibit me from flying any form of aircraft, whether it be fixed or rotary?

Thanks in advance, I want to know once and for all whether the RAF is an option!

Take this document to your optician and ask if you fit:

Note the RN standards - a bit lower for eyesight, which makes up for the higher standards elsewhere ;)

You mean aircrew have standards for eyesight? Doesn't explain some of the mingers I've seen some of the pilots with.............:E
