See what happened to poor Ricky Branson's Airbus today in Cape Town?
The Air Bridge collapsed and ripped the aircraft door. Wonder if there is any damage to the main structure as well.

Luckily pax weren't disembarking during that time - could have been catastrophic!

Anyone got any pics of it ?. Heard the exact same bridge had a problem last week attatched to a BA a/c but did not fully collapse !!.

Will be a nice little insurance claim against ACSA me thinks !!.

YUp pretty serious damage to the a/c.

based on the pics I saw and those sent to Airbus, the estiimate is that it will take anything from 4 - 6 weeks to fix the a/c.

Of course the problem is where do the put the a/c to repair it - aint no hangar here long enough to accomodate it - looks like they will have to put up a temporary shelter/hangar around the L2 door to repair it.

Rumour is that ACSA says the bridge was working fine - must have been the cleaners, as they were busy cleaning the a/c at the time and they reported the alarm going off and the bridge going down...........

Airlines have gotten together and will not be using any airbridge at FACT UFN and are also insisting that the bridges are only ops by ACSA people and that ACSA people will be at the door FULL time whilst the bridges are at the doors! This could take long to resolve - in the meantime out with the steps and buses!!!!
