QF Frequent Flyer Upgrade

Travelling from Singapore to Brisbane next month on board a QF A330-300. I have enough points to upgradre to business, and have requested the higher class with my points. Just wondering what the odds are of getting the upgrade with a Silver membership such as mine.

Usually, if you pay the points then you get the seat, subject to availability. It's not a freebie. Or is there another aspect to this upgrade that I have missed?

If it is like domestic, the only thing that will stop you other than availability is the type of fare. If it is a Red E Deal fare (cheapest), that is not good enough to use your points, you have to spend a few more dollars and get the next one up.
