View Full Version : Couple of Airbus Questions - FCDC / SDAC and IMA

Hi guys,

Can someone please explain the difference between the Flight Control Data Concentrator (FCDC) and the System Data Acquisition Concentrator (SDAC)?

In addition, much has been made of the integrated avionics systems on the A380 (and looking forward, the A400M etc.). Does IMA preclude the FCDC and/or SDAC, or is it simply that these systems are now part of an integrated system where computers take on multiple roles?

Many thanks,

Martin

IIRC, The SDAC talks primarily to the displays / FWC , and the FCDC is primarily for the flight controls boxes.

Not sure what the 380 layout is, but there's nothing to stop you collating signals somewhere before you squirt them into the IMAs

What is IMA? I flew thousands of Airbus hours but never seen an IMA...

Integrated Modular Avionics - I believe it's Airbus' answer to the 777 LRUs...

As far as I can tell, multiple systems are run from single computers.

Thanks for the info aidey_f!
