Hi guys,
Looking for a contact or a suggestion of a UK operator who might be able to help with a project we are trying to get going in Spain.
Short term work, so not economic or 'time feasible' to get our own AOC together. 3 month period from Mid June to mid September 2008 operating an R44 Raven 2 doing short scenic tours and some corporate work.

We have the aircraft and one pilot, your truly, already arranged and we will require at least one more pilot, hopefully coming from the AOC holder which should give them some additional security as to the integrity of the operation.

We would be operating from a fully equipped airport, so no problems with fuel and facilities and with Spanish summer weather and the nature of the event we would expect duty hours and servicing downtime to be the only limiting factors on the number of hours which could be accumulated.

Any questions please feel free to post or PM me.

Thanks in advance

Martin.

Sloanes have got a base on Mallorca. Plenty of R44s and it looks like they've got an AOC (http://www.sloanemallorca.com/index.php?id=4).

They might be able to help you.

Thanks Bravo,

We have an aircraft already lined up but good suggestion. If they have an AOC adding another R44 shouldn't be too difficult.

Ah, I see how you read my post. :O I just meant that they've got plenty of experience with R44s. It looks like an ideal 'fit'.

Best of luck with everything.

Hi Martin

Try Elite Helicopters at Goodwood. They looked into the possibility of adding a charter operation in southern Spain i.e. Marbella, a few years ago.

Although I suspect JAR may have helped in some respects since they researched it, don't expect an easy ride from the Spanish aviation authorities, and IMHO, you shouldn't block 3 months out of your diary just yet until you're sure you're going to crack the bureacracy.

Having learnt with Sloanes, and done some flying out of their Mallorca base I can confirm that they do have an AOC, and do operate in Mallorca.

Give Johny Greenhall out there a bell - he is a very friendly chap and will let you know whats possible and whats not. Sloane and Mallorca into a search engine should cover it!!

I was flying pleasure flights with a clipper 2 from sloane in ibiza (LEIB) last summer. There was a R22 operated by some french guys doing fotowork with ships. Their weblink is called http://www.pictureplus.eu/index.php?fl=1
Since they do comercial flying in spain too...they might be able to help you. Also there is a german helicopter flight school in jerez...try searching for "fly-in-spain". Maybe they can put your chopper under their aoc.

cheers eivissa

Thanks for all of the help guys. We seem to be making some progress with this. I will let you know if we get it going and you can pop over and visit us in the sunshine. On the other hand I will stay home in the rain this summer and sulk!

Not an R44, I grant you, but Heli Aviation at Blackbushe operate in Spain as well - http://www.heliaviation.co.uk/ - their AS350 is registered G-OLFA because it is targeted at GOLFERS in Spain.
