Any body have any news on the next roadshow happening in South Africa. Ive been on their website and cant find any information. Any ideas where to look for that. Dont want to miss another one of those.
I heard guys got in last time with low hours, well below their "space shuttle" type hours!!! Any truth in that?

I will try and find around for you.I was told 2 years ago by an EMIRATES first officer that their requirements was above 737 but i was surprised that a lot of drivers from COMAIR got in,may be with the expansion which goes together with the need of crews they had to downgrade their requirements

Com'on guys, read the requirements.....2000hrs jet, does not say what jet. The B737 or above story is for DEC.

I was on selection with guys flying CRJ and F100, as well as B737, MD11,B744. So long as you meet the requirements you will get a call.

As to a roadshow, those of us from SA were told of the last one by email so that we could tell our friends. There has been no recent email about SA roadshows.

Basically, they just show you the DVD with some expansion, and then have a Q&A session. It was nice to go to, but did not make up anyone's mind.

If you meet the requirements, apply. The worst that can happen is they can say not yet. Some posters here would argue that the worst they can do is offer you the job! ;) but don't stress about it, we must all make our own way in this world.

I have recently heard from mates that the pilots at
Emirates are very happy!
Sounds like Emirates is a good option to me.

Thanks for the input. Im in contact with a B777 Training Captain and he reckons that Emirates does post that type of requirements on their website. Something like 4000TT and 2000jet...something ludicrous like that...but "when the time comes they will hire basically anybody with decent time above 2000TT" and relatively good aeroplanes on licence. But the question remains...how can we find out when the roadshow hits JHB..will it be published on their website or is it basically by word of mouth?

Minimum Requirements

Emirates Airline takes great pride in the work our Flight Deck Crew perform daily to 88 destinations across the globe. To ensure the continued high levels of safety and service for our passengers and employees, our selection standards for flight crew positions are necessarily high.

Requirements for Position of Direct Entry Captain

A minimum of 8,000 hours total flying time
A minimum of 3,000 hours in command of multi-crew, multi-engine jet aircraft in excess of 55 tonnes MTOW
4,000 hours flown in multi-crew, multi-engine jet or turbo prop aircraft with MTOW of 10 tonnes or more, as P1 or P2
Preference will be given to candidates with Boeing EFIS experience who will be eligible to undertake a short transition course
Must be a current Captain
First Officers, qualified as Cruise Captains, do not meet the Direct Entry Captain requirements
ICAO ATPL
English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)



Requirements for Position of First Officer - A330/A340 and B777

A minimum of 4,000 hours total flying time
A minimum of 2,000 hours multi-crew, multi-engined jet aircraft experience
ICAO ATPL
English language fluency (written and verbal comprehension)
Experience commensurate with age
Type rated would be advantageous

Short of our Minimum Hours Requirement?

Due to high levels of interest expressed by candidates who are close to our minimum hours requirements, we are pleased to announce that we will now accept and review applications from candidates for First Officer positions who do not yet meet our published minimum hours requirements.

Candidates who are up to 500 hours below total and/or multi-engine jet hours are invited to submit their applications and may be offered the opportunity to attend a selection programme in Dubai. Successful candidates must, however, meet published minimum hours requirements prior to joining.

Direct Entry Captain requirements remain unchanged.

If you're keen then apply, even if you don't have the hours yet, you will get a reference number, and as you get more hours update your online app and one day you will get the call, very simple.:ugh:

a)Is it because of the high level of interest in Emirates Airlines?

OR

b)The''battle''for Emirates Airlines(and other ME airlines) to attract crew with the current global shortage of pilots?:hmm:

Go and look on the Middle East link on Prune and you will get an idea of what is going on in EK.
Not many people are happy trust me.
My command is happening now and once i have 1000 hours P1 time i am gone.

SAX has lost 4 CRJ 200 Captains to Emirates - all A330. Apparently the Mr Cool Fleet Manager going in November on A380s and few more Captains shortly? Any SAX comment?

That's true. 90% of the contributors to the airline forums on this site whinge. Are there any "good" companies out there....

Oh yeah, there are. The one's with no pilots, and no aeroplanes.
