A little light relief from the RAFP

Seen on a set of the electric revolving doors at an East Anglian base recently:

"Personnel who become stuck in these doors are to telephone the RAF Police on 01XXX XXXXX ext XXXX or GPTN YYYYY YYYY.

OK fair enough you may have your mobile on you and can ring the BT number but unless you are the india rubber man you have little chance of reaching the phone to call the GPTN number as it is 12 feet away inside the lobby!

Has cheered loads of people up over the last couple of weeks, though it should be shared.

Not in the spirit of PPrune - but you can dial direct into GPTN (or whatever the latest abbreviation for it is) from Service mobiles on the vodafone network by dialling 9532 then Stn Code then ext.

My favourite Transport Police sign used to be at Oxford railway station on the door of the BTP office:

Just to add to this, it was one of my ex-colleagues that was the reason for the signs appearing.

Poor lass got stuck in the revolving doors for 20 minutes with 2 bags (not much space left to move if you know what I mean), after normal office hours (anything after 1530hrs is outside of normal office hours), she couldn't budge it, couldn't get a signal on her mobile to call anyone, then a knight in shining armour couldn't budge it. Took Building Services and a tub of vaseline (ok, joking about the vaseline) before she was safely removed.

I promise I never laughed when she told me of her terrible ordeal!!

Many years ago in Wildenrath, there was a window near ops with a telephone visible the other side of the glass.

On the glass was a notice:

"In case of emergency, break window to reach 'phone"

Written underneath were the words:

"But please, do try the door first".
