Air Europa Strange Requirements

Hi Guys, tried searching for this topic and didn't find anything already covering it.

Found on pilotsjobnetwork.com under Air Europa FO requirements:

1000 Hours. (Light aircraft hours factorized by 0.6 (if student pilot hours) and 0.8 (if aerial work hours). Bonus of 575 hr if you have an University degree. Bonus of hours too if you have any relative working in the company or if you are a victim of a terrorist attack.

I mean the one about the family relative was interesting, but can anyone shed light on my curiosity on what grounds being a victim of a terrorist attack can give you a "bonus of hours" when applying for a pilot position.

Well, Air Europa is a Spanish airline and this requirements came after the trein attacks of the 11th of March 2004, and also in the country hast been hitted by the ETA Terrorists since the 70´s, that means that there is a census and several associations of victioms of terrorist attacks, and that easies the way to proof that you are a victim if you really are. it is all estipulated and known in Spain.
Air Europa, has its own criteria like all the airlines of the world, and if they consider to give an advantage for those who have a University degree or have been victims of a Terrorist attack, it is their will, and they can do it.

Wow, that is a strange thing. Don't see that in the UK regarding victims of the July bombings. Having a relative aswell, that shouldn't really be made into an advantage in my opinion. Would never have that in the UK with all the equal opportunities stuff we get subjected to.

Well in the UK or US, this doesn't happen publicly but who's to say someone doesn't get an advantage with the job via a relative and or personal issue (ala 9/11 or for you guys 11/9). We just don't get extra pay for it.

Sort of makes sense to me. If you think about it, anyone who has survived the mental stress and trauma of being in an aircraft subjected to a terrorist attack, who then proceeds to seek employment working on a plane, has got to have serious guts! What better person can you have around when trouble strikes?

Absolutely agree, its all about who you know moreso than what you know in a lot of professions, especially aviation, I was just quite suprised to read iit in writing (I'm aware everything you read is in writing, I think you know what i mean!! :) )

I can see your logic in this one alright, however I would have to say I'd be of the opposite opinion. In my mind I'd be very worried that if the sh1t did hit the fan than the guy/gal that was previously involved in something similar, and probably been through counseling etc would be the one who would panic/freeze up? I could be way off the mark here , I'm certainly not qualified to be sayin yay or nay (about what would happen, not if I'm way off the mark!:cool:)
