Any riggers or safety equipment people out there?

Can anyone help with an efficient way to remove reflective tape from a mil-spec HGU-33 helmet without destroying the structure and finish of the helmet?

You might want to rephrase your question, as your average rigger would recommend the same tool they recommend for every job, namely a GS Screwdriver. Paint tin lid removal, paint stirring, PRC mixing, watch battery change, hitting things, quite a versatile little tool. One imagines it could easily get that tape off, but as for state of the helmet afterwards..........? :=

Fellow Helmut, having dealt with riggers in the past, I anticipated the screwdriver technique; that's why I mentioned the bit about "without destroying the structure and finish of the helmet" Someone out there must've had something to do with the old style of taped helmets. Any assistance with removing the tape from an old -33 would be mightily appreciated. Otherwise it's the angle-grinder. The stuff sticks like s*** to a blanket.......

Hot air gun should soften the adhesive and allow you to peel the strips away, followed by white spirit to clean off the remaining adhesive, Polish with 'T' cut or similar to remove scratches clean off with spirt and spray with clear laquer or paint.
