Hi,

Hope i am posting this on the right forum.

Since I was small, i have always want to be a pilot. And recently, i am planning to get my PPL, CPL and APTL in one of the flight school in Australia, as an international student. (holding UK passport)

However, I am wondering, after I got my license, how difficult will it be for me to find a hour building job, for example, as a flight instructor or work for an air charter company?

I read it somewhere that pilots are on the government's want list at the moment, should i assume that it will be a bit easier than in the USA?

Also, say, if a year or two and i got a few hundreds or a thousand of hour, is it possible for me apply for a regional airline? Or they are only interested in pilots with Australian PR like US airlines will only hire those with green cards?

Thank you very much.

Ivierre,

Sorry but pilots aren't on the wanted list in Australia. Anyone on this forum who says that is mis informed. Nevertheless, In the near future it may be different as there is a dire shortage at the moment.

Just have to wait and see.

Thanks for the reply. Guess I have got the wrong info then.

Is it very difficult to get a flight instructor job opportunity or a air charter job opportuntity in Australia as a non Australian passport holder?

Or is it very much like in the US that no green card = mission impossible?

Thanks for reply in advance.

You need to satisfy the Dept of Immigration. (http://www.immi.gov.au/). Once through that hoop then you need to convert your license. Check out CASA (http://www.casa.gov.au/) for that info.

good luck
